Today’s Scripture: And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. Revelation 22:17
The late Dr. Curtis Hutson was once approached by a young boy after a church service. The young lad asked Dr. Hutson if he could recite the verse he had just memorized. Dr. Hutson told him to go ahead, and the boy said, “Come unto me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will do the rest.”
Dr. Hutson replied, “Well sonny, I’ve never heard it like that before, but I like it!”
The word “come” is found 2,000 times in the Bible. Just as Noah was invited to come into the ark to be spared the judgement of the Flood, we are invited to come to Christ and be spared from the judgment of God upon sin.
The Ark was a shelter from God’s judgment. God’s judgment on the world was water, those inside the Ark never felt a drop. At Calvary, God’s judgement for sin fell on His Son. If we are in Christ, we will never experience a drop of that judgment of sin.
Just as the Ark had only one door, Christ is the only door to salvation – the Way the Truth, and the Life. Salvation is only for those who enter through Him by faith in Him alone.
Everyone who went in to the Ark was safe; there were no fatalities. No one got hurt or died. God has promised us that of those who come to Him for eternal life, no one will be lost. No man will be able to snatch us out of the Father’s hand.
Today, the offer of salvation found in Scripture still rings out. Have you taken of the water of life? Have you put your trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ? If not, I beg of you to not delay. For just as the door of the Ark closed, there is coming a day when it may be too late for you. Don’t delay any longer! Place your trust in the Savior today!
