Today’s Scripture: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:17-18

Recently, we have been talking quite a bit about the Rapture of the Church. I hope you are looking forward to that moment. I hope that you are longing for the Lord’s return. Our verses today tell us of the moment when we will hear the trump of God and rise to meet Him in the air. The English word “Rapture” is taken from the phrase “caught up”

That moment when we hear the voice of our Savior calling us out of this world will be a moment of joy and gladness, but not every believer is looking forward to that day. If you are saved, but are not living your life in service to the Lord, you probably do not want Him to return, since you are squandering your days, minutes, and opportunities. God wants us to live holy, Christ-like lives as we share the message of hope and eagerly await His return.

You also might not be comforted with these words if you are not saved. If you have never put your faith and trust in the finished work of Jesus, you cannot experience the excitement of looking forward to His return.. Maybe you thought that He could save you but then you also had to do your part. Today, realize that it is only what He did for you on the cross that saves you, not your good works.

If you are saved and living for the Savior, be excited about the soon return of the Lord!
