Today’s Scripture: Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. Psalm 27:14
Recently I brought a very distinguished guest to our weekly Chapel session at Dayspring Bible College & Seminary. This visitor was none other than Stella, my daughter and son-in-law’s dog. Stella sat on the platform, and the students’ job was to tell her “Stay!” whenever she started to get up.
Stella managed to stay for a while, but in the end, she eventually got tired of sitting and decided to wander off. Stella helped me illustrate a truth that is found repeatedly in Scripture. Sometimes, we must stay, or wait, both from a physical standpoint and a spiritual standpoint.
Let me encourage you to take some time this weekend and look up some of the passages we looked at in that Chapel:
Psalm 33:20 – The ultimate in obedience is simply waiting.
Psalm 25:5 – Lead me, Lord, teach me, and I will wait.
Psalm 123:2 – Serving the Lord is keeping your eyes on the Master, anticipating what He is going to do.
Psalm 52:9 – There’s no one you can rely on more than the Lord.
Psalm 130:5-6 – We cannot do anything to speed up God’s plan.
Sometimes God’s answer to our prayer is not yes or no, but rather, “wait.” If you are in a period of your life where God is telling you to wait, let these Scriptures encourage you as you continue to wait on Him.
