|Today’s Scripture: For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 1 Corinthians 1:26|
|Our verse today shatters a lot of myths that often float around the Christian world. We often think that God is looking for the wisest, smartest, most capable leaders to spread the message of the Gospel.
And then you look at reality and it tells a different story. Sure, God does raise up CEO’s, government leaders, athletes, and gifted orators. But, most of the time he uses common, ordinary people like you and me to spread His love.
Forty years ago, if you had told me that I would be preaching to millions of people around the world every day, I would have laughed. We were just hoping to survive!
God uses sinners. He uses common people with flaws. He employs failures and people the world has no use for. Who was it that spread the fire of Christianity in the early church? Crude fishermen who were doubters in the beginning. A man like Peter who denied the Lord. A murderer like the Apostle Paul. A dishonest tax collector named Matthew. A quitter like John Mark.
Do you ever feel like you’re not talented enough to really do anything for God? Reject that notion immediately. Get it out of our mind. God uses common people. He uses failures. He uses those who make mistakes.
God wants to use you to point others to the Savior. The only question is, are you willing?
