|Today’s Scripture: Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Romans 13:1|
I have lived a long time and the longer I live the more convincing proofs I see that God governs in the affairs of men. – Benjamin FranklinAs we prepare for another trip to the polls, we need to remember who’s in control. You may be disappointed about the outcome of the elections. Candidates might be elected who hold views contrary to your own and what you feel are the best interests of our country. You’re concerned about how their worldview will impose upon your liberties as an American and a Christian.
Someone wrote these words for such a time as this:
The King Eternal, Immortal, Invisible longs to bestow on His people the victor’s crown. To that end He controls all situations, frustrates the moves of evil men, and reveals Himself to His own as the One Who opens and no man shuts, and shuts and no man opens.
We have a responsibility to stand up and vote for the candidates that hold to godly positions. We must not forget that we have a part in the direction our country goes. But, if the elections don’t go the way that you hope, God is still in control. There may be many changes in our government over the next few years, but remember Whose government is the final authority.
This means when others complain about and disparage our elected leaders, you need to be praying for them. Let your life demonstrate that God is in control because His vote is the only one that counts.
