Today’s Scripture: For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! 1¬†Corinthians¬†9:16

Suppose you found the cure for cancer. It had been proven that the formula you had would completely cure all types of cancer 100% of the time. You have one of the most desired and important discoveries for mankind. What would you do with it? Would you share it with everyone you could? Would you only share it with your friends and family? Would you not tell anyone, but be secure in the fact that you will never have to die from cancer?

We would all be disgusted at someone who would hold on to such a discovery for himself alone. Even if that person was willing to share it with a few people, we would be upset that he was willing to allow others to die even though the cure was found! We would want everyone to know about the cure.

As great as finding a remedy for cancer would be, we have a greater cure-the cure for sin. The end result of sin is far worse than physical death, and every person is infected. We will spend eternity separated from God in everlasting punishment because of our sin. Yet, God has given the antidote. Jesus Christ came and died to pay for our sin. He offers eternal life to anyone who will put their trust in Him.

Yet, He put the distribution of the greatest cure in our hands. He told us, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” The responsibility was placed on us. One day when those around you die and stand before God, will they ask why you never shared the gospel with them? Are you hiding the cure or only sharing it with some of those around you? We need to proclaim boldly the good news of the gospel. The sad truth is that some Christians are content knowing they are going to Heaven and feel no need to share it with anyone else.

We need to be warning people of the danger they are in without Christ. If we don’t share it with those around us, we will be to blame for their ignorance of the truth. God told Ezekiel that if we warn them and they don’t take heed, the guilt belongs to them, but if we fail to warn them, the guilt is ours. (Ezekiel¬†33:2-9) The Apostle Paul realized this when he said it was a necessity to preach the gospel. Woe unto us if we don’t warn them. We have the remedy for their souls. Let’s make sure we are sharing it with the world.
