Today’s Scripture: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
It is incredible when we start to understand the infinite, unfathomable, incomprehensible, unfailing, undeniable, unending love of God. God has offered a pardon. God does not want anyone to perish. God does not want anyone to go to Hell. His love is so intense for you that He demonstrated it. In essence, He’s offering a gift to you called eternal life, bought with the blood of His Son.
Could you even imagine if someone sacrificed their child for you? You would be so amazed, so touched, and forever grateful for that sacrifice. That’s what God did for you, and He did it for you as an unlovely person.
All of us are unlovely. None of us deserve God’s love. None of us can stand and say, “God loves me because I’m pretty loveable. I’m great!” No, we’re not. All of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. It is truly amazing that He loves each one of us, no matter how unlovely.
God did not create us for hell. The only people that will go to hell are those who reject God’s gift of love. God is also a just god; and therefore, our sin debt must be paid. God allowed His Son, Jesus Christ, to die in your place. Jesus was perfect, He never sinned. The blood of Jesus washes away your sin debt and paid the penalty. Jesus died for you and rose again so that you can live eternally with Him. God offers this to you. All you have to do is receive this gift of love. God expresses this love to the unlovely and the unlovable – that’s me and you. Are you asking yourself, “Am I loved? Does God love unlovely me?” You can find that answer by simply looking at the cross of Calvary and what Jesus Christ did for you.
