Today’s Scripture: Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Hebrews 11:3
Who are we? Where did we come from? Why are we here? Where are we going? For centuries, man has asked these questions in a search to find the meaning to life. Secular sources attempt to answer these questions apart from a Creator, leaving people lost, empty, and without hope.
For several months at Quentin Road Baptist Church, I have been teaching a Sunday evening series called Origins. We have been taking a journey through Genesis, examining the Creation account and studying the mountain of evidence for a Creator God. It is amazing to study any part of creation and see the amount of intricate design that demands a Designer.
Our passage today answers the question of origins: by faith, we know that God spoke, and the world began. By faith, we believe that in the beginning, God created the heavens and earth. We see the evidence of it all throughout nature. Anywhere you look, you can see the fingerprint of God. It would be foolish to believe that it happened by random chance.
The best way to find out how something happened is to go directly to the source – someone who was there when the event occurred. We did not see the world begin, so by faith we must believe the account of the One Who was there – the Creator God.
Faith is the substance of life; it is the concrete on which we stand. If you are struggling with faith today, ask God to help strengthen your faith. Spend some time in His Word and in prayer getting to know Him better.
