My oldest daughter, Amy, couldn’t contain her excitement. She would be taking a road test to determine if she could receive her driver’s license. We both awoke early on that historic Saturday morning. I allowed her to drive my car to the Secretary of State’s Office. We stood in line and waited, until finally Amy made it to the front of the line. A clerk behind the counter began rattling off a checklist of necessary items she needed: a learner’s permit, social security card, birth certificate, log sheet to verify she completed the required fifty hours of behind-the-wheel training, and the letter of completion from the state driver’s training facility.
If she lacked any of these documents, she would have been denied the privilege of taking her road test with the state examiner. Our long wait would have been in vain. But as the questions flew, she presented each item, effectively proving her qualifications for the final test.
This nerve-racking experience made me think about the qualifications Christ met to become our Savior: He is holy, harmless, undefiled, and separated from sinners. These traits qualified Him for the awesome task of redeeming us from sin and Satan. Failure to meet any of these requirements would have disqualified Him from purchasing our right to eternal life. Are you thankful He met all the qualifications? Thank Him today for His unspeakable gift.
It pleases the Father that all fullness should be in Christ; therefore there is nothing but emptiness anywhere else. — W. Gadsby
