Today’s Scripture: But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth. 2 Corinthians 10:17-18
There was once a young school boy named Adam. Adam had a friend that he really admired. His friend’s name was Bobby. Bobby also had a friend that he really idolized – his friend’s name was Charlie. Charlie had a friend named Danny that he really wanted to imitate. Of course, Danny really wanted to be like his friend – Adam. It turned out that all Adam had to do was be himself.
If you want to seek God’s favor on your life, let me suggest that you stop being so concerned with what other people think of you. People are constantly worrying about what others think, even to the point where they start to imitate other people.
Seek His approval. Seek His glory. When you do, you will find that if you don’t get approval from other people, it won’t bother you as much. I also think if you are really seeking God’s approval, you are going to gain favor with other people. If you are seeking to be like Christ, you will be that friend you should be. You will be that office worker that you should be; you will be that person in ministry that you should be.
How do we seek and gain God’s approval? 2 Timothy 2:15 tells us how: Study to show yourself approved unto God. Seek God’s approval by obeying the Lord. It might mean that you must give up some things, but by serving God, you are not really giving up anything.
There’s going to be a day in the future when you will have a one-on-one with Jesus Christ. If you have received the gift of eternal life, you are a child of God, you will sit at the judgment seat of Christ. Do you want His approval at the judgment seat? I hope you want to hear Him say, “Great job, well done!”
Do you want to please the Lord? Then serve Him. Study, know what He’s all about, know what He wants you to do. Then there will be blessing upon blessing, both here and in eternity.
