Today’s Scripture: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

What does it mean to seek God first? God doesn’t just want first place in your life and everything else behind Him. He wants to be your all. If God is all, He will influence every decision you make. God wants preeminence in your life.

How many of us think of putting God’s work above everything else in our lives? Did you know God is preparing your problems for you? Don’t be surprised at this. You might say, “I thought God was my friend. Why is He giving me problems?” God is going to give you problems so that you will become a better person.

All sunshine makes a desert. If there is too much sunshine in our lives, we won’t be fruitful Christians. We need the rain and the hard times to make us more like Christ. Remember, if it wasn’t for the hard times, we would be tempted not to cling to Christ. We would be tempted to trust in ourselves and what we can do rather than in God and what He can do.

Think for a moment about the following verse. Matthew 6:25 states, “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat and the body than raiment?”

God is going to give enough grace for today. He is going to give you enough strength for today. Don’t think about where you are going to get the strength to get through tomorrow. Live excited about the promise of His strength for today.
