Today’s Scripture: And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up and lift your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. Luke 21:28
I’ve heard it said that behind every successful person is a substantial amount of coffee. I would agree with that statement, especially in the morning. While many people take their morning coffee black, others take it with a little cream and some have a little coffee with their cream.
Coffee may help us get going in the morning, but what keeps us going when the headlines get scary? For many of us, the news follows our morning cup of coffee. If we’re honest, watching the news gets downright depressing and reading about current world events can be quite frightening. When we are bombarded with negativity and our faith in Christ is attacked, we must draw strength from the fact that we know the Lord will return and He will prevail.
No matter how good your coffee is, there will be days that are difficult to face because society hits us hard. Christianity is not popular. Standards are shunned, and Biblical convictions are considered evil. The Bible is referred to as fake, and speaking the truth is considered offensive and is even labeled as hateful. It is hard to stand strong and not be shaken by fear.
Today may be unsettling, but friend, we know how the story ends. Look to God’s Word. Behind every successful believer is a God who is the same yesterday, today and forever. He cannot fail, and He will never let you down. As these evil things come to pass, take comfort in the fact that your redemption draweth nigh. The headlines may speak chaos, but your heart can have peace.
