|Today’s Scripture: While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18|
|Have you seen a product advertised that looked like it would revolutionize your life, and yet when you purchased it and used it, nothing really seemed to change?
After my heart surgery, I started working out on a weight training system that promised me incredible results in six weeks of faithful use. After about five months, I didn’t see any real difference in how I looked. I was able to significantly increase the amount of weight I could lift, but I certainly didn’t see results like the advertisements and infomercials promised.
Another example of this is the Super Bowl. Have you noticed that the Super Bowl game is not always as good as it is advertised to be? It’s not always a down to the wire game like last night; sometimes it’s one of the most boring games of the year? If you believe all the ads and all the hype, you would think that the Super Bowl is always the best game of the year, when in reality, it many times plays out the same as any other game.
It really all comes down to this: we can only trust the Word of God. Things on this earth are simply that, things. They are temporal at best, and are incapable of bringing lasting happiness or success.
On the other hand, God’s promises are incapable of disappointing us. They are eternal and full of glory.
Thank Him today for His promises to you.
