Today’s Scripture: And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4
Many years ago, I was invited to ride with a policeman friend of mine when he was on night patrol. I asked him if he was afraid of dying. He replied, “It’s not dying that bothers me; what scares me most is being dead for so long.”
He saw death for what it really was.
Many people don’t see death as it really is, like this policeman did. They may say they don’t believe in Heaven and Hell, but either way physical death is a real thing. This sounds obvious but maybe we don’t consider the truth about dying like we should. Every person in this world will die. It’s just a matter of when. With some people, it’s a touchy subject, and they don’t want to talk about dying because they are afraid. If you haven’t trusted Jesus Christ as your Savior, why don’t you today? He will give you everlasting life in Heaven, and death will no longer be something you need to fear.
Some Christians still fear death even though they know they are going to Heaven when they die. Remember, as believers we have nothing to fear from death. The Lord Jesus went to the cross, paid our sin debt, and rose again from the grave, conquering death once and for all. Because of what He did for us, we need not be afraid of dying.
