Today’s Scripture: Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. Titus 2:13-14

Fanny Crosby, the famous hymn writer, was blind. One day, someone crassly asked her, “How are you, an old blind woman, going to know Jesus when He comes back?”

This was quite a horrible question to ask, but it did get Fanny Crosby thinking. She went into her room and started to write about how she would know Jesus when she finally saw Him:

“I shall know Him, I shall know Him, and redeemed by His side I shall stand.
I shall know Him, I shall know Him, by the prints of the nails in His hands.”

The only scars in Heaven will be the scars of Jesus. We will know Him by those nail prints in His hands and feet, and where the spear pierced His side. Those scars will be testimonies for all eternity of how much He loved us.

Titus 2:13 reminds us to be looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of Jesus Christ, the One Who gave Himself to redeem us. Do you long for His return? Are you excited? Are you living for that day?

It has been said that there are two ways to determine if you are looking forward to the return of Christ. The first is by your calendar – how are you spending the time God has given you? The second way is by your checkbook – what are you putting your money towards? If you analyze these two things, it will tell you if you are truly excited about the return of Christ. Friend, I hope that you are excited about His return!
