Life takes on a fresh perspective at 1500 feet above the ground. Late one summer, I took a friend on a trip in our church plane. He was enamored at the serenity of everything at ground level. The trees appeared green and neatly maintained. Chicago’s potholes didn’t seem nearly as intimidating. Even dilapidated buildings took on a quaint appearance. The higher we flew, the less he noticed the cosmetic flaws of the world beneath us.
The same is true of our walk with Christ. The higher we soar with Christ, the better life appears. The burdens and cares of Earth are marginalized significantly by the sight of our great Savior.
Did you know the devil knows this is true? That is why he will do everything he can to keep you from living the life God has for you. He strives to blind, deceive, and detour you from the path of useful service to Christ. He will take advantage of your fatigue and cause you to get offended by a Christian brother or sister. He will make you discouraged from your failures and shortcomings. And he will interfere with your prayers.
Perhaps you are experiencing attacks from the enemy right now. You’re aware of the spiritual struggle at hand, but can’t break free. Take hold of Christ and His promises by faith, and allow Him to carry you above the trials of this life. Get used to the new view: you will soon find rest.
If God be our God, He will give us peace in trouble. When there is a storm without, He will make peace within. Thomas Watson
