Today’s Scripture: Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Matthew 7:9-11
I am weak but Thou art strong;
Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I’ll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.
Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.
It is interesting to note that nobody knows who wrote this great song. It appeared in the 1950’s, but there is no name to go with it. Apparently, the person or people, when they wrote it, just wanted a closer walk with God. They didn’t want fame or even recognition. As the lyrics state, they wanted a closer walk with God.
How about you? If God granted one wish, what would your answer be? Would it be wisdom like Solomon? Would it be a closer walk with the Lord like the author/authors of this hymn? Or would it be for something selfish, such as money, talent, or popularity?
Can you honestly say, “Just a closer walk with Thee… is my plea”? Let’s make this our goal, to desire every day a closer walk with God over anything else. At that point, you will have your priorities straight. God will never deny a request that He knows is best for His child; so ask Him for a closer walk with Him. He will walk with you.
