Today’s Scripture: If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? Hebrews 12:7

Recently, my daughter shared with me a story about my granddaughter, Willow. Her mom had told her to go get something, and Willow’s response was, “No mom, you go get it.”

Erica’s reply was, “Willow, you have two legs, go get it.”

To which Willow replied, “Mom, you have two legs. You go get it.”

That is a perfect example of a child needing some encouragement to get that rebellion out! A good mom or dad will take the opportunity to correct the child in a loving way that is not going to harm the child. During that time of correction, a child should feel loved.

If God loves me, and I’m born again, is there anything that can separate me from His love? I think when we talk about security, the family is a great picture, even though it is a flawed example. When a man and woman fall in love and get married, their children are born into their family. There is a certain natural love that a father and mother have towards their children.

As you raise them, there are wonderful times and difficult times. The little bundles of joy that you have brought into this world have sin natures, and they must be taught that sin always ends up in death. They must be lovingly disciplined whenever they rebel.

Just as your children will always be your children, no matter how bad they mess up, you will always be God’s child. If you have put your faith and trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ, you are part of God’s family, and He will never lose you or cast you out.
