Today’s Scripture: But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. John 3:21

In February, the wonderful church family of the Chili Crossroads Bible Church fed nearly 500 guests in two seatings at our 8th Annual Wild Game Dinner. Our dear people worked, prepared, cleaned, welcomed, fed, shared the Gospel with, and enjoyed the largest group of people who have ever been in our church in one day.

We had to quickly clean the building for the second seating at the event. Carpets had to be vacuumed, and table cloths replaced. Alligator needed to be fried, and bison burgers grilled. Door prizes had to be arranged.

Before each seating, we gathered in the auditorium and prayed. We recognized the eternal impact of our actions. We laid our plans open before the Lord. We entreated Him for the energy to keep going. We asked for His Spirit to open hearts to the Gospel.

You know what? He came through in a big way. What’s impossible with us is easy with His energizing.

How did our people do it? Through God’s strength. When a Christian lives with an open hand towards the Lord, our works are “wrought in God.” We get the word “energized” from the Greek word for “wrought.” God will energize our deeds if we will “come to the light.”

Philippians 2:13 uses the same word for energize when it says it is God who works in us to will and to do of His good pleasure. When we are feeling worn out, insufficient, or inadequate, abandon all of that and embrace God’s ever-present energizing power.

Let’s not limit ourselves to what’s been done in the past. Let’s not limit ourselves to what we think we are capable of. Let’s embrace His energizing power to accomplish the Great Commission and take the Gospel to the world.
