We have this wonderful lady in our church named Mary. She is the sweetest lady you could ever meet, and even in her eighties, she is one of the brightest people I have ever met. Although her life has been anything but easy, she has used the hard times to bring about better ones. One night, I had her come up before the entire church, and she shared something extraordinary. She had developed a way to encourage herself in the Lord when things got tough, and she needed to remember who God is. For every letter in the alphabet, she had at least one name that described God. Without anything in front of her, she went through each letter from A to Z.
Our God is the: A-Alpha, B-Beginning, C-Creator, D-Divine, E-Eternal, F-Faithful, G-Giver of life, H-Holy, I-Inviting, J-Jehovah, K-King of kings, L-Lord of Lords, M-Man of sorrows, N-Name above all names, O-Omega, P-Prince of peace, Q-Quieter of our hearts, R-Redeemer, S-Savior, T-Truth, U-Understanding Heavenly Father, V-Victorious one, W-Wonderful, X-X-traordinary (pardon the spelling!), Y-Yeshua (Hebrew for Lord), Z-Zealous.
Have you ever taken the time to think of everything God means to you? Whether you need some encouragement or just want to challenge yourself to walk more in the spirit, remembering who God is will give you strength and peace. Reflect on these names this week and add others that come to your mind. You will find that He is everything on this list and so much more. How well do you know the ABC’s of God?
