|Today’s Scripture: For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. Luke 6:32|
|Justin had seen her before selling drugs on the street. Now Angie stood blocking the alleyway he’d cut through to get home. “Give me your money kid.” Angie’s raspy voice sent chills up eleven-year old Justin’s spine.
“Ma’am, I don’t have money,” he replied. As he groped through his pockets he felt a piece of paper graze his trembling finger. It was a Gospel tract. “I can give you something better. I can tell you about someone who loves you, who can take you to heaven,” he said.
Angie froze. “No one could love me boy. I’ve been in prison four times.”
“But Jesus loves you; He died for you,” he said handing her the track. Her expression softened.
“Thanks, kid. No one’s ever cared enough to tell me before. Now run along home.”
There are so many people in this world that no one cares about, like Angie. Often, we as Christians pass those people by. In our text, we read that even sinners love those that love them. As followers of Christ we should love everyone, even those that are unlovable, just as Jesus loved the publicans and sinners.
Are there people that you are unwilling to share Christ’s love with? Perhaps they are the people you pass on the sidewalk or ride the subway with you. Remember, Christ died for everyone, not just the lovable. Share Christ’s love with them today.
