The class was studying about insects, and Bobby and his classmates were supposed to put together an insect collection. The project was due at the end of the month, and Bobby was happy he was put in charge of the butterflies. The first few days Bobby was really into it; he caught a few butterflies and stuck them to his board. He quickly lost interest and only occasionally worked on his project when his mom made him.
The night before his project was due, Bobby realized he hadn’t labeled any of his butterflies. He recognized a few of the butterflies from his study in class and labeled them, but he still had several butterflies he didn’t know how to label. After failing to find their scientific names quickly, he decided that no one would know if he made something up. He quickly came up with a few that sounded good and spent the rest of the evening watching his favorite show.
The next day when he turned in his project, the other kids were amazed at the different colors and sizes of his butterflies. No one seemed to care about the names – no one that is until the teacher was grading his project.
We live in a world where many call the things of God, “evil,” and people are quick to praise things that are wrong. The world will condemn those who stand out against sin and will quickly come to the defense of those who are in the wrong. Abortion, homosexuality, gambling, and drinking are all accepted even when they are directly against what God has said in His Word. Let us make sure we stand on the side of the issue that God says is right and not call evil, “good.”
