If God says something is going to happen, the odds are 100% positive that it will happen. A flood destroyed the world, leaving only Noah, his family, and an Ark full of animals alive. . . . Pharaoh allowed the children of Israel to leave Egypt after 400 years of slavery. . . . Abraham’s wife, Sarah, had a child at 90 years old, even though she couldn’t naturally bear children. What do these events share in common, and why did they happen? That’s simple — God said they would happen, and He keeps His word.
We serve a God of truth. Everything He has ever said is true. Everything He has ever written is true. That’s why I believe the Bible from cover to cover. I even believe the words on the cover: Holy Bible. Examples such as those I listed above prove that when God speaks, He means business.
What does the truth of God’s Word mean to you and me? It means that when the Bible says we will reap what we’ve sown (Galatians 6:7), we will have to pay the consequences of our sins. It means that when God says He will help us escape our temptations (1 Corinthians 10:13), He will give us victory — and we have absolutely no excuse when we refuse His way of escape. Also, when God promises to bless and show favor towards the righteous (Psalm 5:12), He will make it worthwhile for us to choose His way.
You may be up against some incredible obstacles. Perhaps you struggle with an addiction that is hurting you or your family. Maybe you have been thinking about getting even with someone who has done you wrong. You might feel down because you haven’t seen any rewards for doing what is right. It is even possible that you feel like God doesn’t care about your problems. The odds may be against you right now, but hang in there; God keeps His word — against all odds.
