Today’s Scripture: My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth. Proverbs 3:11-12

Throughout Scripture, there is a tie-in between the earthly father and the Heavenly Father. Though the person who has put their faith in Jesus Christ cannot lose eternal life, it is possible to go out of fellowship with God. When that happens, He doesn’t say, “You blew it, now I’m sending you to hell.” Instead, He lovingly corrects you.

If you look at the earthly father, you aren’t going to see the Heavenly Father in every way. This is because every earthly father has flaws. Some have more than others, but all have sinned. Dads, that’s why it is important for you to just be real, and let your kids know when you are discouraged or have made a mistake.

However, in many earthly fathers, we do see a portrait of our Heavenly Father.  Our society is going bankrupt of fathers who are like the Lord. There are some alarming statistics that are getting worse. Fatherless children are over 100% more likely to have children as teenagers. Fatherless daughters are almost 100% more likely to have a divorce than girls who had a dad at home. Fatherless sons are 300 times more likely to be incarcerated in a state juvenile institution.

God has designed the home to be the father, the mother, and the child. He designed it that way for a purpose. Dads cannot take a day off; they always need to be on their game.

If you didn’t have a good dad, thank God that He can make up the difference. He can use you to make up the difference in someone else’s life.
