Happiness Is_______

Today's Scripture: Philippians 4:4, 10-13
Some say happiness is a clean garage, a new car, or the man or woman of their dreams. Others simply refuse to be happy unless everything’s going their way. For a moment, imagine all the conditions you felt necessary for true happiness were met. You got the job promotion you always wanted. You married the person you just couldn’t live without. You even got that new kitchen set! Would you be satisfied?
If anyone or anything outside of Christ is your source for happiness and satisfaction, you’ll forever be miserable. Even many multi-millionaires feel that they would be happier with “just a little more.” Our problem is, we view happiness materially—our lot compared with that of our neighbor’s. As long as the Joneses have a new lawnmower, we can’t be happy until we get one too.
Happiness is an attitude. Men like David and Paul understood this. In spite of the fiercest opposition, both were happy. David wrote: “As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.” Paul wrote: “Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.”
People will let us down. Things will decay and fall apart. Only God remains the same. If He’s the Source of your happiness, nothing will get you down!
Today's Quote: Complete happiness is knowing God.
