Caring For the Soul

Today's Scripture: Psalm 42

Here’s a helpful tip for ministry minded people. Whether you’re a full-time pastor or a layman who’s extremely busy in the church, you have to remember to always take time to feed your soul with the Word of God and spend time in prayer. You can’t help others and fulfill God’s Will if your own spiritual life is burned out.

Sometimes we can get overwhelmed and feel as thought the entire weight of the world is on our shoulders. I feel that way many times. And yet we have to constantly remember that whatever endeavors we are called to—it is God’s ministry. It is His Holy Spirit who flows through us. When we feel we’re losing power and strength, then perhaps it’s because we’ve taken too much upon ourselves and have forgotten to give everything over to the Lord.

It’s a good idea to have periodic spiritual checkups beyond your normal communion with God. Whether it’s at a camp retreat, a vacation, or simply in the quiet solitude of your own home.

Refresh yourself. Take time to feed your soul and listen to the voice of God.

Remember that in order to minister to others, you have to first take care of your own soul.

Today's Quote:
It is possible to be so active in the service of Christ as to forget to love Him.
