The Slippers

Today's Scripture: Romans 11:33-36

A little girl was so excited when she went to the counter of the store with a pair of soft, warm slippers. The shopkeeper, seeing how happy the little girl was asked her whom she was buying the slippers for.

“I’m buying them for my daddy.” she answered, fingering the soft corduroy of the slippers with delight.

The shopkeeper couldn’t help but be a little curious. “Where did you get the money to buy such a nice pair of slippers?”

“From my daddy” she replied as she hugged the slippers close.

The shopkeeper said, “From your daddy? You mean he gave you the money to buy the slippers?”

The little girl replied, “You see my daddy loves me so much that he gives me money to spend on whatever I like. And I love him so much that I want to buy him these slippers.”

Isn’t that the way it is when we serve our Heavenly Father? God loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for us so that we are guaranteed an eternal life in Heaven. When we realize that love, it is easy to serve Him. Our lives are a small sacrifice compared to the sacrifice He made for us.

Think of this picture of God’s love and your response to that love today. It will make your step a little lighter and your service to the King a little sweeter.

Today's Quote:
When the believer realizes how much God loves him, it is easy to serve.
