Today's Scripture: Mark 1:13-17
Sometimes you might wonder why you are tempted. But imagine if a toolmaker never tested his tools. He would never know if they work. If you were on board an airplane and they announced this was a test flight of a brand new plane, I doubt you would be real thrilled.
The reason equipment is tested is because it needs to work when challenged. We are tested not only because God wants to make us better but because we need to know of what we are capable.
When Jesus was tempted, he had just had a great spiritual victory with the baptism by John. When John saw Him, he immediately recognized Him as the Messiah. Almost immediately after, He was put into extreme testing.
This can teach us many things as Christians. Temptations often come after a great spiritual victory. Often it is when you are on top of the clouds as a Christian that the Devil will try his hardest to bring you down to earth. Sometimes, it might seem as though there is no end to the trial you are in. Hang in there! Keep fighting the battle. You will come out victorious if you stay close to the Lord Jesus.
Christian, study the test ahead of time and win the battle with temptation. To be tempted is not wrong, but it is wrong to give in. Hold out and get the victory in your Christian life!
