Today's Scripture: Proverbs 1:22

What does it mean to be a fool? Proverbs 13:20 states, “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise.” Many people think wisdom is gained from studying books in school. Or they think that being wise is some- how tied up in a person’s IQ. That is intelligence and that is really separate from being wise and being foolish. A person with what would be considered “low intelligence” can be very wise when it comes to Christ. By the same token, a person with what the world considers “high intelligence” can be a fool. IQ has nothing to do with being a fool or being wise.

But looking at this verse, it is easy to see that if you hang around people who are wise when it comes to the Lord, then you are going to be wise as well. If you hang around people who witness, then you will witness too. If you are around people who are taking a stand for Christ, it will be easier for you to take one.

Proverbs 13:20b goes on to say, “…but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. This doesn’t state when the fool will be destroyed, but it does say that those who run with fools will be destroyed.

Who are your friends? Are they wise or are they foolish? Remember don’t make someone your friend unless you are willing to become like he or she is.

Today's Quote:
Friendships cemented with sin don’t hold.
