Janet can’t remember what it was like to stand up, to get out of a chair without pain, to walk easily across the room, or enjoy the small things in life—things most people take for granted.

Janet lives in Missouri and suffers from MS or Multiple Sclerosis and fibromyalgia. She has not been able to walk in six years. Enduring surgeries and constant pain has become a part of her life. And until recently, she also suffered from depression.

She couldn’t understand why God had allowed her to suffer and why He continued to allow her to live in pain. She couldn’t understand why God had permitted her to experience the many financial problems that had come as a result of her problems. Her mind and her body cried out and so did her heart.

Her lack of understanding, her confusion, her pain, and her loneliness caused her to become suicidal. She, like all of us, wanted peace. Yet the very thing she didn’t understand is that peace only comes from the One place she didn’t want to look—God. For it is God and God alone that can give us “peace that passeth all understanding.” A peace that even in the midst of trials and tribulations is there—beyond all human comprehension and understanding. It has been said that peace does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work; it means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

Janet searched for this peace, willing to try anything. She watched televangelists and faith healers who always had that infamous promise that they would give physical healing to those who “just had enough faith.” But faith in a person was not what Janet needed, nor in their healing, for they had no power. And thus, Janet’s pain remained.

That is when Janet tuned into Victory in Grace with Dr. James A. Scudder.

For the first time in her entire life, the Bible began to make sense! Her understanding that caused her to doubt and conflict in her soul was beginning to vanish. Dr. Scudder and his practical, down-to-earth preaching began to tear down the walls of anger and depression, brick by brick, Bible verse by Bible verse.

Janet soon worked up the courage to place a call to Victory in Grace. Jim Boyce was the operator who took her call and shared with her just how much God truly loves her, just as she is. Jim shared the clear plan of salvation and showed her from the Bible that we can only be saved through faith in Jesus, not in anyone or anything else. Not only was Janet overjoyed that she could know for sure she was going to Heaven, but she now had the understanding and peace that her life had once lacked.

Janet’s physical pain didn’t disappeared—and her finances didn’t magically cleared up—but Janet has a way to deal with them. She has a risen Savior that can carry all of those burdens and cares for her. All she has to do is trust.

And she does.
