Our Commitment to Integrity

That little symbol you see on the bottom of our homepage and on all of our literature and publications—is more than just a decorative graphic—it represents Victory In Grace’s commitment to integrity. The acronym ECFA stands for the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability.
The Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability is a religious watchdog agency that provides accountability to Christian organizations. It was founded in 1979 and is comprised of over 1000 charitable, religious, missionary, social, and educational tax-exempt, nonprofit 501(c)(3)organizations.
In the 1970's, there was growing public and political concern over an increase of questionable fund raising practices in the nonprofit sector. Donors had nowhere to turn to obtain an objective assessment of the financial integrity of Christian organizations desiring their support.
In the late 1970's, Senator Mark Hatfield addressed a group of key Christian leaders and challenged them to police their own mission agencies as a "Christian Better Business Bureau" or face the potential of government intervention. Consequently, ECFA was formed, standards were established, and a chartering process was initiated for applicant ministries.
ECFA is committed to helping Christ-centered organizations earn the public’s trust through developing and maintaining standards of accountability that convey God-honoring ethical practices.
ECFA assists its member organizations in making appropriate public disclosure of their financial practices and accomplishments, thus materially enhancing their credibility and support potential among present and prospective donors.
Through its publications and services, ECFA informs its members of current administrative, financial, fund-raising, legislative, postal, and promotional matters of common concern.
The reaction of the public to the establishment of ECFA has been gratifying. The fact that ECFA requires full financial disclosure satisfies many donors because they know that financial information is available when and if they want it. It also causes the member organizations to take more care in the expenditure of funds, and in properly carrying out the programs of the ministry. The ECFA seal is tangible evidence to donors that ECFA member organizations adhere to the highest standards of financial integrity and Christian ethics.
Victory In Grace has always strived to maintain honest and accountable practices. Our membership in the ECFA helps us keep that commitment and give you confidence that when you give to our ministry, you’re donation is being used to reach as many souls as possible for the Kingdom of Christ.
And now you’ll better understand that little symbol!
