A Rich Harvest of Souls

Why We Invest in India

Every year I’m asked the same question. Why do you travel across the world and visit India? Why is your heart so set on spreading the Gospel across this country?

The answer? India is a field ripe for harvest. The harvest of souls for God’s kingdom.

I’ll never forget the first trip I took to India. I went with several pastors and we conducted a crusade. Thousands upon thousands of people came forward, renouncing their belief in their pagan religions and embracing the gospel of Grace. I couldn’t believe how open these people were to hearing the gospel.

Ever since that first crusade, I’ve felt a strong burden on my heart toward India. And now it’s a great privilege to work with my friend and colaborer, Dr. Ron Seecharan, who has been training young men and woman for the ministry for many years. Solid Rock Theological Seminary has graduated over 300 young men, all of whom are in full-time Christian ministry across Asia. Each one is equipped with the clear gospel of grace and solid Bible education.

I’ve met many of these college graduates and I have always come away impressed by their love for God. They are completely surrendered to His Will. Because of their dedication, people across this continent are being won to Christ. Thousands of souls will be in Heaven because of the faithfulness of Dr. Ron Seecharan. What excites me is that we get to be a part of that fruit.

Family Heritage

When I was a kid, my father always used to talk of Dr. Ida Scudder, my great-aunt. She was the first woman to graduate from medical school in America. She committed her life to serving the people of India as a medical missionary. She established a hospital in Bangalore.

The Scudder family has a long history of service to India. It must be in our blood. The Scudders in India devoted more than 1,100 combined years to Christian medical mission service in South India by 42 members of 4 generations of the family.

The first was Rev. John Scudder, who was the first medical missionary to India. He graduated from Princeton in 1811 and the New York college of Physicians and Surgeons in 1813. He then opened a very successful practice in New York City.

But Rev John Scudder felt God calling him to India. Over the next thirty-six years, Scudder served as both a pastor and a doctor to the people of India, helping launch a hospital, several churches and schools, a Christian publishing company, and a medical mission.

Most importantly, he began the Scudder family legacy that continues today of bringing the gospel to India.

God’s Heart for India and Beyond

My heart’s desire is to bring the clear gospel message to the entire world. I want as many people as possible to find salvation in Jesus Christ and an eternal home in Heaven. That’s why we are on TV and radio around the world. That’s why we have resources on our website at victoryingrace.org. And it’s why we invest time and money to help plant churches and preach the gospel in India and other countries.

Every Christian should have a worldview that extends beyond the borders of their church, their community, their country. God has called us to preach the gospel to the whole world. God has called us to love everyone and strive to share with them the good news that we know ourselves—that Jesus came to pay for their sins and give them eternal life.

What encourages me most is that you have that same vision. My heart is thrilled every time I read a letter or email from a Victory In Grace viewer, reader, or listener that expresses a passion sharing the gospel.

I hope you will consider being a part of what God is doing in the country of India.
